Tundra 5.7L EROM V2: daily driving, towing & performance

How direct fueling, SHIFT3D, Tow/Haul and anti-lug supervision work together in the Tundra patch suite.

VF Tuner

The Tundra 5.7L EROM V2 release brings fueling, airflow, throttle response, timing adaptation and transmission control into one coordinated strategy. Its behavior changes with driver demand and vehicle mode.

Seven connected control areas

  • Direct Target AFR: a load-and-RPM mixture surface.
  • SHIFT3D: five upshift and five downshift surfaces.
  • Tow/Haul: dedicated retention behavior for fourth, fifth and sixth gears.
  • Anti-Lug: supervision of usable engine speed and projected shift landing.
  • Shift Torque Management: calibrated engine-torque intervention through the shift.
  • VE and Direct Throttle: separate airflow-model correction and driver-demand shaping.
  • Octane Learning: bounded timing adaptation with retained knock correction.

What changes in Tow/Haul?

The documented overlay targets moderate-demand upper-gear retention. Deep-demand downshifts, anti-lug protection, normal upshift logic and the supervisory checks remain available. The goal is useful gear retention as working load changes.

Vehicle modes still matter

Cold or not-ready operation retains dedicated warm-up behavior. Manual/S mode and low-range operation retain their appropriate authority. Invalid inputs and protection conditions return control to the original strategies.

Build the calibration around the truck

The release outlines combinations for daily driving, towing, performance and modified trucks. Final behavior depends on calibration availability, condition, tire size, gearing, payload and fuel. Highly modified vehicles need additional datalogging and testing.
