Lexus RC200T / 8AR: understanding EROM load and boost

Start with the RC200T customer guide, then explore the wider 8AR-FTS EROM V2 architecture.

The RC200T customer guide explains a clear path from driver request to load target, boost target and the final permitted pressure. The accompanying 8AR-FTS engineering release describes the wider EROM V2 control architecture.

Three boost limits to understand

Under normal forward-gear operation, the effective custom boost target is the lowest of:

  1. The Direct Boost Base Target.
  2. The Global Maximum for the current RPM.
  3. The active Per-Gear Maximum.

A higher ceiling only permits a request; the base target must still request the pressure. The documented OEM pressure floors, controller operation and final absolute-pressure ceiling remain part of the control path.

Use the right units and file

The guide distinguishes absolute manifold pressure from gauge boost and provides scaling for native ECU counts. Confirm the units in the active VF Tuner definition before editing any table.

In Calibration Download Manager, open Tune → Lexus → RC200 and select the exact matching ECU Calibration ID. The guide also explains how to verify the all-gear fallback after changes to the per-gear ceilings.

The wider EROM V2 architecture

The 8AR-FTS engineering release covers the rewritten load core, target-cap control, boost by gear, Boost Reserve, direct AFR, PI/DI control, fuel adaptation and SHIFT3D/T-Max coordination. Availability varies by vehicle and software version; the architecture overview does not mean every feature is enabled in every RC200T file.

For calibration work, begin with the customer guide and validate requested versus actual response using datalogs. Use support to confirm the file and feature set for your ECU.
